These are photos from the same poppy seedline, and how it expressed in the Summer of 2024/2025, including a seedhead stripped by possibly a moth larvae?

Here are the photos of this same seedline, from the summer of 2023/2024

It's all learning, it's all valid, and it's all about connecting with and resourcing our communities.

Luckily, with having so many beaches around, and a car that transports everything from bees, bamboo, manure, fishframes and seaweed, coffee grounds, hession sacks, we can collect every weekend, especially in the warmer months, which gets us away from town, & pays off in quality soil

Romanesco broccoli has been pretty much pest free since the beginning, despite white butterfly about. I plan to grow it out again, with seed from a different supplier as well, hopefully get the heads a bit more substantial next time, and will add in fresh seed. (Planted too close together)

Really easy seeds to save, leave them to dry out somewhere cool and dry, when they're brown, into an envelope, name/colour, date, and theres your calendula for next year. Do up some for your local seed library or community garden.

I do truly appreciate it. I have a picnic table full of plants that ive just been giving to whoever shows up with seeds or whathaveyou, but if i can stock the stall knowing it wont all just get taken for nothing, it means the picnic table can be cleared more frequently!

This is a small urban property, so it's good to remind ourselves that this can happen, we can try to mitigate it, and sometimes it will happen anyway. It can also pose opportunity for those of us interested in growing out these acts of natural happenstance for interests sake.

I have a couple of crosses in the white seeded sunflowers this year.

Please bring surplus seeds, any seeds special to you, and pick up some new seeds, there will be tomato multi packs and beans for anyone to help in the Ōtepoti grow outs of tomatoes, beans, capsicums, by sharing couple of fruit back in Autumn

Please join us in building seedy resources for Ōtepoti! Still a lot of tomato seeds for everyone wanting to grow tomatoes, with agreement to share some fruit back in Autumn for seed for 2026 growing season. It's important to be involved in something constructive and beautiful amongst all the news.

This low winter light on these icy mornings does something for my brain 😍 I'm not a photographer, I can't capture its true beauty

Thank you to Fiona for sharing some White Iceicle radish seed. I will process these and get them out into the library but probably also grow some out here to keep a supply of seed as its very popular

Thank you to the beautiful Jae for sharing some heirloom tomato and some chilli seed to the library. It is such a privilege to see these seeds as they move around our community. I feel so incredibly lucky to see these varieties as they come and go, season after season.

Who out there in Otepoti is able to help me build up tomato seed for a good cause? Good cause as in free seedy resources for all people.

Im also planning to do this with beans, so if you'd prefer to grow beans, im going to get tomatoes out first and probably get onto beans mid August.
