Update - I’ve actually had an incredible time playing Outer Wilds with my dad. He has early-stage dementia but has enjoyed being confused and curious of the story along with me. Maybe it’s just a slower game and he can keep up, or he finds comfort in that I don’t understand whats going on either

Damn, Mighty No 9 is gonna turn 10 later his year

There’s no world where that game outshines its messy and well-documented development. It has the reputation it deserves

That being said, it’s fine

Mighty No 9 is a fine game

Maybe even good

Mega Man 11 was not really THAT much better

Speaking of cancelled Virtual Boy games…

Take a moment to appreciate how weird and dumb video games are with some of my favorite weird cameos

Eminem in Quake 3
Princess Tomato in Bomberman R
Pyramid Head in New Int Track & Field DS
A Killzone Helghast in Hot Shots Tennis PSP

Metal Gear MK II from Snatcher appears in Gradius Rebirth, bolted onto a Wii, and I’ve not seen any wiki document this

Yall are supposed to be the super nerds who have all the knowledge, I’m not upset I’m just disappointed

I’m not saying I “discovered” Zari, but I definitely knew her before it was cool.

Look at the Yellow Devil in Wily 1 and know that it is possible to beat him without getting hit. And that was 1987! That level of nuance is insane for the time, the precision of jumping and movement that Mega Man could do was revelatory. Mans doesn’t get enough credit for that.

I’ve always felt that a highly underrated aspect of Mega Man is how it expanded on 2D movement in a post-Mario Bros landscape. I will forever stand firm that MM1 holds up and was a landmark achievement in the history and progression of video games as a still nascent medium.

The fact that in 2025 No Man’s Sky was even nominated for this award is nuts. Are they *still* putting stuff out for this?

It’ll be ten years old this August
