SPD works with ICE. ICE just has to claim its for a "criminal" matter

The recent legislation expanding mass surveillance spelled this out: "While the City cooperates with federal immigration authorities in criminal matters, it does not do so in civil immigration matters except as required by law."

“Even if Flock took a stance on permitted use-cases, a motivated user could simply lie about why they're performing a search." - Even Flock employees admit "guardrails" on how mass surveillance gets used don't protect anyone

Your Ring camera is going to start using facial recognition to further track & record every time you enter & leave your home.

The main people your Ring camera surveils are you and your neighbors; mostly you.

Like collecting more surveillance data that the feds can then try to co-opt. Nothing could go wrong with this plan.

Seattle Councilmember Bob Kettle, expressing "shock" at Trump's announcement that he plans to send the military into more "dangerous" cities, just said (in the context of public safety at Seattle Center) that the threat makes it "even more imperative that we do think was right here in the city."

SPD claiming CCTV cameras "reduce crime" again

20 days ago when approving SPD's massive CCTV expansion (despite massive community opposition), council said CCTV was only for investigating and no one at the city claimed they prevent crime so pointing out they don't prevent violence was meaningless.

Surveillance companies justify helping ICE and Trump with ‘democracy’

“It's not my job to play the ethics game because our elected officials will eventually figure that out. I have full faith in the American people to decide who to elect and what to vote on.”

Multiple Palantir and Flock sources say the companies are spinning a commitment to "democracy" to absolve them of responsibility. "In my eyes, it is the classic double speak," one said.

There's no similar exemption for the sales tax. People making minimum wage and less still pay it.

Trump did not leave Chicago. He just didn't send the National Guard. Instead, he sent his deportation thugs. And in some ways, that's quite a bit worse.
mskellymhayes.bsky.social
Legacy media and cable news reduced Trump's aggression against Chicago to a question of whether troops would be sent immediately. When he said he was taking his fascist military spectacle elsewhere, those media players declared the situation over—while waves of federal agents attack our neighbors.

Folks are rightfully outraged over Brian Kilmeade's remarks, but "Just kill them" is official policy in nearly every US city.

Sweeping the homeless constantly, like Mayor Bruce does, and denying them the basic things they need to sustain life, is "Just kill them" by another method.

Westneat calls public housing "socialism" while corporate bailouts are just "capitalism."

The real question: Why is investing in families "fantastical" but investing in police surveillance "necessary"?

Classic media gatekeeping 🧵1/3
