The BC General Employees’ Union has been escalating its job action over the past five weeks and as of Friday had more than 17,000 members on strike or taking other job action, about half of the number who work for the core government.

Quick tip: If a person is actively doing a thing, it's kinda silly to ask, "do they have the power to do that?"

Yes. Yes they do. The proof is that they are ACTIVELY DOING IT. RIGHT NOW.

"ICE doesn't have the authority blah blah..." Well that's fucking great. That means they'll stop now, right?

I've asked Canada Revenue Agency about this issue before, they won't comment on the activities of individual charities due to the "confidentiality provisions of the Income Tax Act"

They note the public can report charities suspected of non-compliant activities here:

Yves Engler is explicitly soliciting funds for his NDP leadership campaign citing Elections Canada rules yet includes an asterisk: "*donations are not tax deductible"

Why would funds for a leadership campaign collected under Elections Canada rules *not* be eligible for tax deductions?
Yvews Engler campaign website:

"Donate by Interac e-Transfer:

To donate through Interac, please make the donation through your financial institution to yvesenglerndp@gmail.com.

Important: In order for us to accept these funds as required by Elections Canada, you must also complete the form below (the maximum donation amount is $1,750):

* Donations are not tax-deductible."

It's great how maybe the worst financial collapse in U.S. history is going to happen because 37 people control 90% of the wealth in the country and they're all imbeciles who would fall for the "I've got your nose" trick.

Nearly a decade of organizing in Vancouver's animation and VFX industries is transforming wages and working conditions for the workers behind shows like Star Trek: Lower Decks, even amid a historic slowdown in film and TV.

I spoke to workers + organizers about it for @pressprogress.ca

Vancouver’s film and TV industry is facing one of its ‘toughest slowdowns’ ever. Animators and visual effects workers are unionizing to take back control:

“It’s time to level the playing field for the workers ... so they can have more of a say, more control and a democratization of their workplace”
