Texas, the state which burns the most coal for electricity, generated more power from solar than coal in 2025. Natural gas power fell from 2024 while wind (barely) and solar (dramatically) increased, driven by market forces. ERCOT = TX grid, 90+% of power in state.

From 2022 to 2025, it shows that coal, natural gas, hydropower, wind, and nuclear power have remained relatively stable, with a significant increase in wind power. From 2024-25, there was a slight decrease in natural gas use; slight increase in wind, nuclear, and coal power; and significant increase in solar power.
