Hello and welcome to my profile! I'm an aspiring author, based in the UK. I dabble in a number of artistic fields, so expect to see some (bad) art from me as well! I hope you enjoy! ^_^

It has come to my attention that the story I posted a month ago links to my short-story.net page. I now return, bearing a direct link! Please enjoy! ^_^

What do you mean I have to think about marketing and my social media presence!? Or that I actually have to post my stories to get readers? Surely I can just keep writing and hide it in my closet forever!

I just read The Hellbound Heart. Definitely a good Halloween read! #booksky

One of the hardest parts about preparing a query letter is the conflicting advice from online guides. For example, do you mention other novels you've written or will this make the agent wonder why you haven't been published? It entirely depends on who you ask!

Because I use YouTube both as a writing playlist and for casually listening to music, the algorithm tends to get confused. Will it recommend the Made in Abyss OST, something Celtic inspired, or the Epic of Gilgamesh sung in its original Sumarian? I don't know and wouldn't have it any other way!

Well, thanks to the Online Safety Act, I now have to give my government ID and personal information to a non-GDPR protected US company in order to access my chat log. Thanks UK government. I'm willing to bet money that the only people who will benefit from this legislation are identity thieves...

A lot of people are saying #OzzyOsbourne's dead. This is a misconception; the Prince of Darkness doesn't die, he just returns to his Kingdom.

Edit? Publish? Why would I do that when I can keep writing. That's much easier!

Me: I should post art on here alongside my writing.

Also Me: But I'm a hobby artist and not very good. Besides, I'm a sci-fi/fantasy writer, specialising in folk tales! I should focus on my audience.

Me: Yeah, but there could be cross over appeal, especially if it's fantasy related.

Also Me: ...

It's been far too hot this week! The UK simply isn't built for 30 degree weather. >_<

Since joining #Bluesky, I keep stumbling over accounts that post nothing but #politics. I totally get wanting to raise awareness of important issues, but spamming nothing but bad news day in and day out, multiple times a day can't be good for you...

Whenever I see a book that people have tried to ban, I feel a stong and sudden urge to have it on my shelf!

“When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness…”

Many writing/publishing scams, especially those from overseas, follow the pig butchering model, with victims bamboozled into spending ever-larger amounts of money on more and more overpriced or fraudulent services and products
What's a pig-butchering scam?

It might open with a simple “Hi” or some good-natured confusion about why your phone number seems to be in the person’s address book. That's the first step in a process intended to drain your bank account and ruin your life.

I really wish all of these 'Totally Legitimate Book Marketers' would actually try with their scams.

'Dear Author, I came across your book on Amazon and thought it was incredible'.

Wow! That's amazing! I haven't even published anything on Amazon yet! You're really good!

PS: Nice free Wix site.

A very happy #SummerSolstice (Litha) to all of my followers! ^_^

Riddle me this, #booksky: is there, in 2025, truly a difference between #sci-fi and #fantasy? We all know there's a ton of cross over - #book shops even sell them in the same section - but at the same time both genres can be quite different. What are your thoughts?

It is a testament to #BritishPessimism that, even though we've had one of the dryest springs on record and are in danger of going into drought, we are STILL complaining about the #rain. ^_^;

After reading #NorthangerAbbey, I decided to dive straight in to #MysteriesofUdolpho! My thoughts at the 1/3 mark are that, while it could definitely do with some editing in places, it's legitimately quite suspensful and I'm wholeheartedly invested in the characters! ^_^

Ah, are we already back to the time of year where all of us non-Americans are reminded to go and vote, despite the fact that no elections are happening? XD

Finally closing in on finishing draft two of my second #novel! While the querying process for my first continues, it's comforting to know that I have another one almost ready for beta readers! ^_^

I just got an #AO3 account. While the site is best known for fanfiction, it also hosts original stories - providing you don't have plans to monetise them. This suits me perfectly, as I've been looking for somewhere to #publish free #shortstories for a while now!

All of these tech bros are so busy focusing on AI that they can't be bothered to work on the #technological advancements that actually matter, like self cleaning fridges! Seriously, it's incredible how disgusting they get in just a few weeks!

So, I just watched #Metropolis for the first time - a #film that's been on my list for a while now. I could type out my own opinion of it, but #H.G.Wells himself already gave it the best review of all time: 'Silly'.
