My alternative to doom scrolling is to photograph the birds in my Shropshire garden.

Google says this is a starling. I thought it was a fledgling but when it eventually flew off it seemed quite competent.

I saw one of these ten years ago (9/8/8/2014) at my parents' old house in West Wickham. Not seen any before or since. It was a highlight at a time when everything else was fading.
