Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.

Amazing to see how openly he crows about the oil part. GWB and company, some of the most sinister politicians in US history, wouldn’t have been caught dead admitting to the oil interests driving their quagmires.

I am waiting for statements from @slotkin.senate.gov and @peters.senate.gov condemning Trump's lawless actions. The fact that it's almost 10a ET and they remain silent is alarming. There's nothing to monitor or consider here: this is illegal under the Constitution and international law. Say so. Now.

“Secure the blessings of liberty“
In 2026 I want all of the decent people to remember one thing.

You aren’t meant to be this disciplined, this self-sacrificing to survive. The environment is supposed to support good living. We can have that. You are not a failure. That is politics.

That is all.

The Trump supporter who runs CBS news just killed a story about Trump’s favorite torture prison. Here’s why America has a liberal media bias problem.

The networks were afraid not to run Trump because they assumed he would use his office to punish them if they didn’t. The irony is that this is what Biden was warning about, a warning they chose not to share with America.

How Republicans commemorated Thanksgiving in 1869--with a multi-racial/multi-ethnic gathering of people at a table with a centerpiece celebrating universal suffrage and self-government, and with an engraving of Castle Garden, the pre-Ellis Island point of disembarkation for immigrants.

An email auto-responder, but it waits 3–4 days, sends a reply that says "Sorry for the delay; I'm swamped this week but can respond more substantively once I play some catch-up"—and does so with every email I ever receive.

If you have to get permission to teach in your area of expertise from people who are definitionally not qualified to adjudicate your expertise then you are no longer working at a university.

You’re working at a state propaganda factory.

Charter schools are not good. Sorry.
Getting annoyed listening to charter school activists lie again and again that charter schools are public schools.

They are not.

They are publicly funded private schools that siphon money away from public schools and produce no better results.

One of the greatest crimes of American civics miseducation is convincing people the filibuster is some wisely invented tool of bipartisanship and deliberateness. It is an accident of parliamentary procedure! It is not good!
one thing i find crazy-making is the idea that getting rid of the filibuster would make congress a purely majoritarian institution. bicameralism itself is counter-majoritarian! equal state representation is counter-majoritarian! the fact that senate elections are staggered is counter-majoritarian!

Whatever eventually remains of this civilization, I hope it’s half as good as that.
