It was peak.
But the more I watch the newer crop of shows, the clearer it becomes that they keep mistaking volatility for romance, manufacturing blowups with only marginally amusing payoffs. And yet, even at their most chaotic or earnest, none of them has yet to come close to topping Terrace House: Boys & Girls in the City's infamous omurice incident. A TV moment that still occupies real estate in my frontal lobe.

A section of the fresco series from the Camposanto Monumentale in Pisa, titled The Last Judgment and Hell, attributed to the artist Buonamico Buffalmacco and painted around 1336-1341. The fresco is segmented into tiers, presenting a cave-like depiction of Hell. A large, monstrous, greenish devil figure dominates the center of the composition, shown seated and consuming figures. I thought of a couple C- jokes for this but the overwhelming feeling is just how sad some peoples lives are. We live in a world full of wonders and amazing experiences and this is all some people have, this is what they think life is. They have a profound emptiness.
