Genetic manipulation, a thing that Trek has systematically said was bad over & over again since Khan, is cool again for SNW, so long as they can use it to be bioessentialism barbie, make Vulcans racist assholes, & allow Spock's friends & coworkers to torture him & treat him poorly

I can’t help but feel Strange New Worlds gets praised this season because it’s safe & unchallenging—offering comfort while the world feels unbearable. I get it. But it’s an illusion of depth recycling tired stories of America, empire, & romance - circling the same shallow waters & not boldly going.

the saddest thing about SNW is that i can no longer watch it with my kid. i used to look forward to that every week. but now it's so deeply & blatantly cruel... especially toward Spock, our fave character. it will only make her cry. (she's just like me bc "What Is Starfleet" made me sob).
