Nerd. Other stuff. Queer. Don't say much, all these years later, still kinda shy on social media, which seems like a good choice these days. If I follow you it's cause I think you're cool!

Do what Dorian suggests and subscribe to @originstorypodcast.bsky.social. Firstly because it's brilliant and absolutely worth it obviously, secondly because if it ever goes away I'll be absolutely bereft and you wouldn't want that would you? Would you?!

If you're an Origin Story subscriber (or would like to be), part one of our first ever three-parter is now available for Patreon backers. Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin begins today with Revolution. This season on socialism is a beast to research so every bit of support helps us out

I do feel she's way too prolific right now. Between Midnights, TPS and this there probably a really good album. I guess I respect the work ethic but maybe slow down, be a bit pickier? Or maybework with more people who'll say that something is not good enough?

I think I'm higher on this than most but it's not her best. I just find her fascinating, the pettiness and insecurity that I think is always there flares up in such odd ways. It's way too much in this though. I kinda don't get the criticism that she's always doing the same thing, I don't see that.

Just got to Dorian asking "Why is the left so divided?" and burst out laughing on my train home! Today of all days!!

Me, explaining to a new friend group what happens after two tequila shots. 😳

(Obviously I will keep subscribing to both OGWN and Origin Story. All the best people do!

Thank you Dorian. Having found Remainiacs early on as a fan of you music writing I've loved every minute of it. As a queer person who has spent the last few years growing increasingly anxious at "everything" having a political media space that's felt welcoming and supportive has been a true help.

Really pleased to see the unity in this. Hope it's the beginning of something.

Aesthetically pleasing.

We’ve been repeating these same mistakes for more than a decade now. The change required isn’t massive but it doesn’t seem like the board has any interest in making it. So we either keep doing this and take muddling through, or change something. If we don’t, we know what the next decade looks like.

So, where do we go? We’ve had maybe one window where we’ve functioned well? Not the Dom McKay one, we still did most of our business late, but the one where we sold GG and Juranovic after we replaced them with Oh and AJ that’s the only time it felt like we went into a window with a plan and did it.

As has been argued ad nauseum by @90minutecynic.bsky.social, but that will require the club execs/major shareholder to delegate a little control and for the manager (particularly in Rodgers case) to also give up some control on their side too. But there are no signs of that happening under Desmond.

I’m not arguing for ownership change. I don’t think it’s necessary. So many of the problems at this club could be solved with the simple addition of an experienced football exec/technical director to work between the CEO/CFO and the manager and take an overview of the running of the football dept.

Sorry for the depressing rant but I’m genuinely fed up after last night. Don’t know who I’m angrier at, the board, the manager or the players, particularly some of the senior players who’ve been there a while and have just been going through the motions since Bayern in Feb.

Is the support willing to do that? And sustain it for months? Maybe years? I’m honestly not sure I could do it. I’m not sure the majority of the support are even willing to genuinely protest. I really don’t know where we go. We muddle through being okay but not being as good as we could/should be.
stuwynne.bsky.social
If we as a support want to force change then I don’t think protest will do it, we have to be willing to boycott. Not buy merch, not go to go to games or buy season tickets, etc. You see it at every club, protests very rarely work but hit the owners in the pocket, and eventually that might.
stuwynne.bsky.social
Realistically? Probably very little. Due to the structure and ownership of the club the only way change will be made is if Desmond wants it, and change doesn’t seem to be a huge part of his vocabulary.

Thanks man, as a teacher supposed to be my first week back too.

I actually think I got it on the train back home to Edinburgh after flag day. So… I blame Celtic: giving us all so many unwanted issues this transfer window. 😆

Look forward to listening as always.

Anyway, I have Covid, hope this made any sense. 😆

He seems to have decided after last season that Bernardo isn’t really an 8 and Engels can’t be the O’Reilly goal scoring replacement. Now, obviously that’ll change through the season and by opponent, but if I’m either Bernardo or Engels am I gonna be happy with that initial amount of game time?
stuwynne.bsky.social
That’s clearly McGregor 6, Hatate creative 8, Nygren attacking 8. But below that it seems like he sees Bernardo as the 6 back up, McCowan as the Nygren and Engels as the Hatate, just going on where they’ve played pre season and these two games. 2/?

Listened this morning, I get the Bernardo concern and I share it but thinking about it over the last two games, seems to me it’s a wee bit different. Rodgers seems to have 3 defined roles in his midfield 3. A tempo setting 6, a creative 8, and a goal scoring 8. 1/?
