I'm sorry but I don't think we should be encouraging celebrities to be traitors. What message is this sending to impressionable young people? You get ahead in this fallen world by lying? No thank you, sir
dorianlynskey.bsky.social
And others will enjoy it. Some young people do still enjoy going out. I don't understand the problem when it's not a flagship policy or one that cancels out another more popular policy. Seems like small beer
dorianlynskey.bsky.social
Not every policy is about targeting voters and I can’t imagine this one winning or losing anybody
dorianlynskey.bsky.social
I’ve honestly never heard that one
dorianlynskey.bsky.social
Today alone I’ve read or heard three people use the phrase “Fast forward to…” and I’m begging the world to find a less cliched way to describe the passing of time. I’m sure it felt modern when cassettes first took off

He can stand with uplifting non-racist campaign slogans such as parts of Britain are ‘shit holes where many people don’t speak English and live on the welfare state’. He’d get Rupert Lowe and Tommy Robinson’s vote.
dorianlynskey.bsky.social
Maybe it’s not just the money, it’s also the hubris
dorianlynskey.bsky.social
This is the standard Green argument too though
dorianlynskey.bsky.social
I don't think being chippy, insecure and resentful is the same thing as self-hatred. I think she hates other people a lot more than she hates herself

I reviewed a book about why the UK nuclear industry has declined and there were many reasons but I swear the author didn't mention gender identity once
dorianlynskey.bsky.social
I don't see any evidence of that

The Chinese state seems to be able to keep a lot of plates spinning

There is nothing Badenoch cares more about than hating trans people so of course she has to throw that in and of course she does it in the crassest, thickest, most nonsensical way possible
sturdyalex.bsky.social
Badenoch: "While Britain was redefining what a woman is, China built five nuclear reactors."

A perfect summary of conservative idiocy. Glorifying authoritarian post-communism for its efficiency while vilifying democracy for seeking nuance and respect.

It is the Right who hate their own countries.

No shit I'm furious. I spent eleven years learning to write well about complex topics in ethical ways, often for criminally low rates, because I believe that work's important. It's deeply insulting to see a total dipshit get fabulously wealthy for telling the rich what they want to hear!

Do what Dorian suggests and subscribe to @originstorypodcast.bsky.social. Firstly because it's brilliant and absolutely worth it obviously, secondly because if it ever goes away I'll be absolutely bereft and you wouldn't want that would you? Would you?!

Hey hey, it's time for the second and final part of Karl Marx. The struggle to write Capital and why it mattered. Bust-ups with Bakunin. Fame at last. His disastrous finances. And the fight to define Marxism after his death. We do the reading so you don't have to.

Heseltine was the first Tory MP to publicly criticise Enoch Powell after Rivers of Blood in 1968. Let him cook

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social asks Lord Heseltine about remarks he made at Conservative Party Conference.

I imagine Robert Jenrick is currently on his way to places like Plymouth and Chelmsford to complain that there are too many white faces and they are insufficiently diverse
