We know from our recent e-waste week with @stratforddc.bsky.social that some people have old smart phones kicking around in drawers and cupboards. Now you can help Welcome Here Stratford by donating them for use by newcomers to the town. Drop them off at our Climate Hub in Meer Street.

As well as the #RepairCafe in the Methodist church hall this morning, there's a "Give and Take" stall. This month's theme is "Toys and Games" so a perfect time to declutter toy cupboards and/or pick up some new games for free.

We had a great response to our call with @stratforddc.bsky.social to bring e-waste to the Climate Hub. This was all collected this morning, so if you still have small items old tech to recycle please put them in a carrier back on top of, or by the side of, your bins on your normal collection day.

Small electrical items can be left in a carrier bag and on the top of, or by the side, of your bin on your scheduled dry recycling, garden waste or non-recyclable waste collection day. Items must be small enough to fit in the designated compartment beneath the refuse collection vehicle. Please do not put any electrical equipment inside any of your bins. Examples of what you can recycle: Phones, tablets, laptops & calculators; radios and small games consoles, small kitchen appliances; small electrical toys; smoke detectors & thermostats. Some of the people we hear from would like to use buses more but don’t. When you have to use them, the frustration is much more intense.

Thanks to Chris and Alistair of The Butterfly Garden for showing us round their recycling facilities. We were very impressed by the huge number of videotapes recycled, and by all the other activities on offer (music, gardening, cooking, acting!)

One of members, Janet, visited The Butterfly Garden near Cheltenham to see how they recycle old videotapes! Videotapes have to be broken up and the bits sorted by volunteers, then removed by the #waste company. Looking to help bring something similar to #StratfordUponAvon. @stratforddc.bsky.social

Tomorrow is the first Saturday of the month, which means is time for the next #RepairCafe in #StratfordUponAvon! Bring your broken things to the Methodist church hall in Old Town between 10am and 2pm to see if our volunteers can fix them for you. Repairs are free, but we welcome donations.
