Been thinking about this lately in terms of Planck's Principle, summarized as, "Science progresses one funeral at a time." This time, the funeral is for the US Science Community writ large. When we rebuild, there won't be nearly as many tenured Old Heads obstructing breakthroughs from the New Heads.

Cults of personality rarely if ever outlast that personality. This one is largely propped up by an implicit threat of cultist violence on Dear Leader's mere suggestion that maybe something like that could happen. Nobody else would have the thrall to swing that threat, so the cult will end with him.

Whereas the conservative dog-whistle of Law & Order expects Law to work as Wilhoit described for them, and Order refers to the assortment of those established in- & out-groups, which linguist @george-lakoff.com outlined as the "conservative moral hierarchy", to wit:

In the conservative mind, all policy decisions flow according to the following hierarchy.

To understand Republican stances on abortion, racism, homophobia, worker rights, etc., just consult this chart.

It's all there.

Wilhoit's formulation of "anti-conservatism" maps pretty tidily to Rule of Law, where Law (to protect & bind alike) is expected to apply equally to all depending only upon their own conduct, regardless of who they are. 1/2

Yup, she played him like a fiddle. Giving him the physical medal itself doesn't mean he won it, nor that she didn't. She knows that, & he only cares about getting it:
