And if you need an example of what that sort of violent apartheid looks like in practice today: in Israel ethnosupremacy is a critical factor in deciding whether you're human, or just subhumans routinely shot to bleed out on the street as anyone who tries to save you is exterminated for sport.

You don’t need to abandon any skepticism towards rebel groups or downplay the seriousness of some of the factions to understand why there are people who joined them in the first place. If you ignore this factor your analysis has nothing to do with the reality of Syria and what Assad has done.
