Secondary school maths teacher, guitarist in too many bands, running addict, loves debating politics.
It certainly wasn't sold that way. 2020-24, Starmer was hellbent on rejecting the Corbyn era, anyone associated with it, anyone who spoke in favour of it, any policies associated with it. He drove people out of the party, reflected in the lower vote share. Worked in 2024, unlikely to work in 2029.

In 2017 Corbyn defied all expectations and took May's majority. It was only the DUP that kept her in power, sadly.
Calling it a "crushing defeat" is a very disingenuous way of looking at it.

Here's a simple example. Check out the headline of this article (which suggests a quote or at least paraphrase of something Corbyn said) compared with the last vague and wooly sentence. Total misrepresentation by Keunssberg.

I've spent some time on twitter today. Holy moly it's ugly. I've posted these screenshots quite a lot. It's like pissing ok a house fire.

Hear me out.... what if Andrew goes to the US and in some hearing while trying to give a clever bullshit (such as the "can't sweat" thing), he accidentally makes some revelation about Epstein that brings down Trump?

We're due a bit of luck, aren't we?

We now bring you live footage from The Times offices...

Incredibly, Radio 4's flagship political phone in show relies on Arnita Arnand's memory to fact check callers who make completely inaccurate statements and doesn't have a researcher with a search engine in the background.
Thankfully most of her callers were better informed than the AQ panel.

I despair.

Don't forget this quote too....

It's unbelievably stupid that the debate was 'Is lockdown good or bad'? When of course the answer is complex and nuanced and requires understanding that speed is of the essence when reacting to pandemics. We always locked down too late and therefore for longer.

In the 2017 election (arguably the only time the media reported on Corbyn with anything resembling balance) Labour absolutely soared and got 12.9m votes. For reference, Starmer got 9.7 in 2024.

But the general narrative is still that Corbyn and his policies were deeply unpopular and unelectable.
October 14, 2025 at 9:27 AM
Actually both of these can be true. It's usually the worst policies that get "positive press attention".
October 8, 2025 at 4:43 PM
That's the only reason the Mail can write this shamefully dishonest and frankly unhinged headline and get away with it.

We should have held the press to account after Leveson. They have poisoned the UK.

Just read this description of Henry Cavendish from Bill Bryson's brilliant book A Short History of Nearly Everything.

I mean, I know we can't diagnose historical figures with autism, but....

I remember this survey coming up before. We all do that and it's perfectly normal. "Shall I state my political opinions over lunch with colleagues? No, let's talk about Strictly instead. Keep it light." That's got nothing at all to do with free speech or censorship.

Since Oct 7th, 148 hostages have been released through ceasefires & negotiations.

The IDF have freed 8 (EIGHT) hostages by force (having killed 65k people, the vast majority civilians, and flattened over 90% of buildings).

Are the IDF woefully incompetent, or is this not really about hostages?

Reform councillor, who got in hot water and had to delete a social media post a week or two ago, calls for another councillor to be sacked after they got in hot water and had to delete a social media post.

All from "the party of free speech". 🤡

Signposts and weathervanes. Starmer's only tweeted about Kirk because of a very strong political wind.

I've been listening to and reading Chris Mason's "journalism" for a decade or so. In a competitive field, this is the stupidest and obviously partisan thing I've seen from him.

The BBC done a journalism on Farage. I think I need to sit down.

What's this?! Good stuff on BBC news? Heavens to Betsy.

You're the only BBC news on bluesky is appears, but please tell you colleagues that the inverted commas in that headline and not only superfluous but show huge cowardice in the face of the far right.
September 5, 2025 at 4:39 PM
Ok, fair enough. Hopefully it stays there for more than 5 mins.

If Reform (4 MPs) were electing a new leader today it would be high on BBC news, maybe top story depending on what else is going on.

The Green party (4 MPs) are electing a new leader today.

This is one of the cuntiest things I've ever heard someone say to kids. We've all said "because I said so!" to children when exasperated but to do that and try and call it a 'civics lesson' while you destroy their artwork is top level child hating.
