- care homes sold off / closed
- roads falling to pieces
- bin collections all over the place
- threatened council tax rises
It's the most shambolic I've witnessed in decades.
Paying more & getting less.

Authoritarian democracy has many admirers in the UK & guardrails only matter at all if there's a will to uphold them.

But in the age of Trump/Johnson we shouldn't overrate the guardrails of a codified constitution/ separation of powers or underrate those of parliamentarism/ independent judges.
