I will start the year with a new bat box, swift box and owl box. 2026 resolutions to recommend good things. Watch the Ted Lasso series, see the film I Swear, listen to Flash FM. Restore nature and avoid unnecessary plastics like rubber and plastic grass surfaces

Relentless "improvement" of the countryside leaves no space for nature.

But ever more people are now helping the wild return, through *rewilding*.

No matter who you are or where you live, you too have a part to play in the fight.

There is no better New Year's resolution.

Plastic, rubber, paving and concrete surfaces overheat, pollute and are unsustainable.

Fantastic to plant trees and hedges, but please remember to remove tree protectors when they are no longer needed.

We need more green roofs and living walls.

It's heart warming isn't it to find so many people pick up litter?

Why would anybody subject their kids to sport fields that contain highly toxic chemicals and heavy metals. Play areas similarly contain PFAS lead, mercury, cadmium and benzene. Natural grass is cooler, absorbs and filters water and helps wildlife.

@easterncoyote.bsky.social Natural grass self generates, is healthier for us and far better for our environment. Grass won't pollute with PFAS, lead, mercury, cadmium, benzene or phthalates, and it will cool and filter out pollution.

Demand natural grass for schools, colleges and play areas. Rubber crumb contains thousands of toxic chemicals, they contaminate clothes and get into waterways

Unable to help clean, tidy or fix where you live yourself? Notice and report problems like litter, potholes, blocked drains or broken seating etc to councils or on Gov.uk Ask your council for green roofs on bus shelters, living walls. street trees, plants on traffic roundabouts. No plastic grass

If you are unhappy with Gov decisions, challenge them. MPs have been selected to speak on behalf of the majority. The natural world can't defend itself it needs a voice. Please be that voice.

There is never a good reason to use artificial grass, it's often not particularly low maintenance in the long run
