Was? Is. Still going strong, and is run by a non-profit these days. 360-person worlds in Edinburgh was sick this year and finally rotated out the last of the FFG sets from Standard.

Androids in the setting and LLMs are very different issues. Human First are villains because androids are people, HF are not just a normal anti-capitalist terrorist group.

System Gateway (And Elevation after that) is definitely the better way to start now. Old original Core Set and Revised Core Set have issues, such as not including full playsets of each card and not being in the current Standard and Startup formats for organized play.

Rumors of its death were grossly exaggerated. The non-profit Null Signal Games took over very quickly. We just had a 360 player Worlds Championship last month.

I assume you meant System Update, not Upgrade. I would recommend Elevation instead, that one's designed to be the next step after Gateway. Also remember that all the sets are free to print and play, the files are on the NSG website.

Null Signal Games provides full Print & Play PDFs for their sets, and proxies are fully competitively legal. You can literally play it for free.
