I haven’t forgotten about the gamedev, just have been doing very terribly healthwise for a long while and now able to take time and recover. Anyway, I’m currently working on a description system so fruits will have little quirks added to them, some mechanical some for fluff to keep things fresh.

I ran another pen and paper session with a couple of plant variations with growth times, and fruit yields, both affected and unaffected by how many times the plant was watered. Missed a few here and there due to business of work but I am still satisfied by the results.

I'm still working on that and hopefully I have an idea for it by the end of this week. In the mean time:

Day 1: I have run this game while at work today, 8 hour shift which was perfect for it, just to see if it could even be feasible, especially due to how I had made the growth times.

But now I feel like I want/need a deeper sink for the fruits I collect. Had an idea to add a creature that I could feed the fruits to for other resources but I didn't want to take away from the main focus of the idea itself and I don't want it to become a creature tamer type game either.

Base ideas I have would be for a variety of plants and their growth times, watering needs, minimum and final yields. Also for the chance of mutations that would make essentially new fruits, hybridizations, and ways to obtain new fruits through NPC selling, animal visits and new locations.

This will be done in GameMaker as that's what my computer can handle right now and the would be 2D anyways so just an easy pick. I have enough code to have a minimum viable product but I'm stuck on what more oomph to add to the game because I feel like the loop won't be enough for me

Idea for the game is literally planting seeds, letting them grow and collecting what in this case would be, fruit. That's it, that's the game loop. I really want something simple that I could realistically "play" while at work. Something to do during the 8 hour crunch without demanding too much time

Hello, I've been wanting to make a game for me for a long time and I joined a few too many game jams last year and burned myself out. But I have a lot of notes, code and screenshots of help and tips and stuff so maybe screaming into the void will help me get this going again, ya know accountability.

Day 1

Hi. I'm Dag. This is my personal account. It's been sitting idle for a little and it's time I actually put it to use.

I've made a new years resolution to make a video game, like I've tried countless times. To that end, I'll be using this account to post daily updates.
