Our voice is our power, and the White House needs to hear us loud and clear: CA's coastline is not for sale. Protecting our ocean from Trump’s push for offshore drilling will take all of us—up and down the state and at every level of government—standing together and speaking out.

I was proud to honor the San Diego Organizing Project, a powerful multi-faith, grassroots network whose decades of community organizing, leadership development, and advocacy continue to advance human rights and strengthen families across our region.

“She’s been at the forefront of the advocacy side of this for a long, long time, before her political career even started,” said Falk Feddersen, an oceanographer with Scripps Institution of Oceanography.

Thank you, CalMatters and Deborah Brennan, for shedding light on this very important issue.

PASSED ☑️: San Diegans and this Board have spoken. We do NOT want offshore drilling polluting our coastline. Huge thank you to all the community members, leaders, and environmental advocates who showed up, spoke out, and shared our opposition. We must continue to make our voices loud on this issue.

December 9, 2025 at 3:50 AM
No one should have to live with the stench of “rotten egg” air or breathe toxic gases in their own home day after day. A huge thank you to San Diego County Air Pollution Control District for partnering with us to get 200 more air purifiers into D1 homes. South Bay—these air purifiers are for YOU.

Muchísimas gracias a Yolanda por compartir su poderoso testimonio.

Nuestras comunidades están sufriendo y necesitan urgentemente un aire más limpio. Por eso, herramientas como los purificadores de aire son tan esenciales en nuestra región en este momento.

Low-income households pay up to 3X more of their income on energy than higher-income households, a strain many families in D1 face. The Board expanded the state’s free appliance exchange program, letting qualifying households swap gas appliances for energy efficient electric ones at no cost.

San Diego shows up. When thousands of residents’ benefits were at risk during the government shutdown, our communities rallied to make sure no one went hungry. The spirit of giving & helping neighbors is one of our region’s greatest strengths. Let’s carry it forward today & every day. #GivingTuesday

Happy Thanksgiving! I’m thankful to the people of District 1 for placing your trust in me, and for the partnerships and communities that make our work possible.

For decades, communities in the Tijuana River Valley have lived with severe pollution, and airborne exposure to wastewater contaminants has become a clear public health crisis. This ongoing harm is an environmental injustice.

I promised to be a voice for our communities, and hearing from residents like Henry, remind me why that promise matters. Grateful for the trust, and proud we saved this beloved garden together. Muchas gracias Henry, sigamos adelante.

See that white foam in the river...it’s definitely not supposed to be there.

South Bay, you know the smell I’m talking about. Rain spikes hydrogen sulfide levels in the TJRV, creating that familiar “rotten egg” odor. We have more rain coming, please report any odors you smell—your input is crucial for accurately tracking how the pollution is affecting our communities.
November 20, 2025 at 1:01 AM
Take a look at this drastic spike in hydrogen sulfide levels in the TJRV—rainstorms skyrocket air pollution levels & our residents are paying the price. Storms already bring unique risks to the region but adding toxic air on top is beyond unreasonable. Enough is enough. We need urgent action now.
