Knowledge-keeping is subversive. Remembering the stories they want to rewrite, to take from schools, to make dangerous to say, keeps our ancestors’ struggles alive. Keeping those embers lit so they can be blown back to life with a breath is power. Memory is power.

The timeline's gonna be extra tedious today huh

There's an alcoholic bubble tea place I can get delivery from on Uber Eats, and I ALMOST want to take back all the bad things I've said about this extremely regressive country. Almost.

There are so many influencers and politicians in the US who need this as a public service

The way you have to sign up for anything is SUCH a barrier to so many people for so many reasons: illiteracy, ADHD, lack of internet access, lack of time to devote to the unnecessarily lengthy process. Having an expert do it in 5 minutes Vs every individual spending 3 hours is an accessibility crime

In this case it was the 2+ hours I had to spend signing up with 3 different apps and a website over a week to get a GP with the NHS, but this holds for almost anything requiring sign up these days. Like please: just give me a form & let me send it to you like an old person and then we're done, wtf.

One of the stupidest job-busting moves we ever let businesses offload onto us was bureaucratic scheduling and signing ourselves up for things instead of letting the business itself pay staff to handle that paperwork.

I can't make out what's under that blanket, but possibly she is also sitting on some dude's face?

This is why it's unwise to belittle traditional, boring, non-violent modes of attracting a partner like "being a good provider," "being a protector," and "being dependable" just because they are traditional and sometimes usurped for patriarchal fuckery. "Talent" can also be used to monopolize sex

Literally. Sexual selection was the part of his theory that was dependent on ladies' choice.

This is why evo-devo freaks consistently and conveniently ignore the "sexual selection" part of Darwinian theory to focus entirely on "natural" selection, as if the latter captured the entire story of how things propagate in the world.

I'm convinced there's a fucked up libidinal component lurking under the conservative push to get rid of all modes of sexual attraction (dance, language, art, fashion, music, erudition) that aren't violent. They aren't talented enough to attract on their own, all they have is offing the competition.

I am saying once again that the Conservative attack on the Arts is because they are incredibly envious of artists who they perceive as a group that has “too much” cultural power, a type of influence Conservatives crave but will never have because they’re anti-intellectuals with no imagination.

(by "this," I mean admitting that you would NOT help a stranger in need and also not then see them kindly on their way having done so)

Admitting this out loud is just tempting fairies to come and test your ass.
