Our friend Ngigoro of the Hongana Manyawa people in Indonesia came to Europe to campaign for his people’s land rights.

He called for an end to mining on his people's land.

Since their forced contact in the 1980s, the Nukak Indigenous people have been forced out from their rainforest by outsiders who’ve gone on to abuse and destroy their territory.

We support the Nukak’s legitimate claim to their territory.

@survivalinternational.de accompanied a delegation from the Maasai International Solidarity Alliance (MISA) in Europe. The Maasai representatives spoke out against evictions in the name of conservation.

Ngigoro, an Indigenous Hongana Manyawa man, traveled from the Indonesian island of Halmahera all the way to Europe to warn the world: “Stop the mining, or my people will die.”

Ngigoro, who was born uncontacted, is fighting to protect his people’s land and rainforest.

Bokumu is a recently contacted Hongana Manyawa man from the Halmahera rainforest of Indonesia. He was first contacted in 2009 when Weda Bay Nickel began exploring his territory.
Nickel mining for electric car batteries is destroying the Hongana Manyawa's rainforest.

🚨 The Brazilian Senate has approved a change to the Brazilian constitution, to add the Time Limit Trick to it, which is a proposal that states that Indigenous peoples who can’t prove they were on their lands the day the Brazilian constitution was signed in 1988 have no right to their ancestral lands

The uncontacted Kawahiva people are forced to resist the threats that have killed many of their relatives. Without demarcation, their lives are at risk.

Last year, a Supreme Court judge ordered the territory finally to be demarcated. But it’s still not happened!

Indigenous organization ORPIA in Venezuela is bravely speaking out against illegal mining in the Venezuelan Amazon.

They’re also speaking out in defense of the uncontacted peoples who live there.

As ORPIA said, protecting Indigenous territories is key to combat the global climate crisis.
