They do seem like inconsistent positions, but the attacks on teachers was really about dismantling public schools to get taxpayer dollars for home schoolers and private charter schools run by charlatans.

This is key. 50% cut gets you way past overworked staff and inefficiency. It opens the floodgates on non-compliance and will starve the government of tax revenue. It's another attack on the sovereignty of the American poeple.
The Trump-Musk Regime is reportedly planning to cut as much as 50% of the IRS workforce.

Make no mistake: this will starve the government of revenue by making it easier for the rich to evade taxes — which the top 1% already do to the tune of $163 billion a year.
