From my experience it took a lot longer than 2 minutes to colour it yellow. My grandfather would do it for my grandmother who thought it looked lard. In our family of five, including teenage boys, we didn’t bother!

Yes, i remember that they had special buses in the early 60’s taking families downtown to see the parade. Despite the decline of all those downtown department stores, I was pleased to discover that Montreal still has a Santa Claus parade!

Contrast Hébert’s take with the YYC CBC’s “political panel’s” take. They think it’s a big win for Smith & Carney. Maybe for Smith (another distraction from the recall petitions, AHS scandals, etc.) but not for Carney! Turning his back on BC & his QB lieutenant for dubious political gain.

So typical of Danielle Smith’s vanity but she should be careful what she wishes for!

Danielle Smith is always blaming Canada for Alberta’s so-called woes; this time Canada can blame her for losing our measles elimination status.

I get it, but Heritage Park is well worth a visit. I understand how HP’s hands are tied as it depends on government funding of all levels.

That’s true. I thought you were referring to voting trends. Often it seems like voters vote one way provincially and another federally- to keep some kind of balance. Unless you live in Alberta, of course, where voters behave like sheep.

Experience tells me that provincial election results have actually little bearing on federal politics.

How can Trump qualify for the Peace Prize when he has declared war on Washington, DC, Chicago, Portland, and any Americans he doesn’t like?
October 11, 2025 at 3:04 PM
Me neither. Especially if Trump keeps talking about a 51st state, gives us hassles at the border, sends troops to major cities, and continues to operate as a dictator.

Back in the day when I also thought George W. Bush was the worst US President in my lifetime.

Whoever wins as Mayor is likely to have only something like 25% of the ballot. Same for my ward, as the field is very crowded. I wish there was a preferential ballot in municipal elections.

These statistics are shocking! So much for “The Alberta Advantage!”

Just started watching this show on Crave recently and am enjoying all the subtle Canadianisms. In an early episode there’s a female investigative reporter (& potential love interest) named Mackenzie King.

If there’s as many as she claims (7/8) why not just give the vaccine to everyone under 65 anyway? Wouldn’t it be simpler? Oh, right, this is not about efficiency.
September 7, 2025 at 6:43 PM
Once again CBC News goes easy on the UCP government. “Some people” should read “most people.” I also dispute LaGrange’s claim that 700,000 of Alberta’s 800,000 seniors over 65 will qualify for a free vaccine due to a health condition.

Sad news. I once had the pleasure of hearing him speak and he was a classy and intelligent guy.

I agree with most of this article but the comparison of Danielle Smith to Justin Trudeau mystifies me. What specific issues did JT inflate? Well, I guess comparing DS to JT will rally UCP supporters against her.

Urban voters are already underrepresented! Even if the proposal wasn’t gerrymandering, it ‘s still a detriment to effective representation. How does an MLA effectively address the concerns of both urban & rural constituents? Calgary tried making its wards an inner city/burb mix & it didn’t work.
