As a professor, I’m 1,000% sure he appreciated that email. A while back, I sent an email to my favorite earthquake geology professor, telling her how I still use what I learned in her class in my career. She said it totally made her day.

Do you think it's gotten better over the years? (Climate change?) This is the first I've heard of it being socked in for so many days in a row, but I think your news down here doesn't really cover it much.

When I was a kid, my grandparents lived up in the mountains out of Fresno, and we were going to go to their house for some holiday, but we got over the Grapevine and could see the Tule fog. My dad immediately turned around and we did not go to their house. Too risky to voluntarily drive in.

That's such a cool place! I've been lucky enough to do a couple of stories there. Years ago, during my first story (and before they modernized the rail system they have), they let me "drive" a train and I promptly derailed it. Ha ha!

I believe you can separate them. Dig them out and replant. But I’m not sure what time of year you’re supposed to do that. My artichoke stopped producing, so I had to take it out.
