My heat pump equipment is 2 years old now. I'm in Ottawa, Canada, and have had no issues for either heating or cooling. My utility bills are lower now than when I was using natural gas equipment (by about $1K/year). The federal gov't provided a rebate and loan, making it even more attractive.

I'm old enough to remember Stephan Dion running on a consumer carbon tax platform. We all know how that turned out. I don't blame Carney (not yet). As you say, he has a lot of parameters to work within.

As my boss used to say, let's keep the cannon ball rolling on the ship deck.

The worst thing about all of this is that our country is again being told that the occupation was a peaceful process. We need to remind everyone that it was funded internationally and was more about US politics than we'd care to admit.

Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.

I'm not convinced jail time works for what's happening with the misinformation campaigns. We'd be better off focussing on training students from a young age about the propaganda wars that are tearing apart society.

We're not trying to criticize PM Carney; we're trying to show him that Canadians support climate change mitigation efforts. That will give him the "fuel" he needs to do something.

He's not a wall flower. He's an intelligent elected official who will hold his own if we don't all fawn over him.

I know Kicking Horse roasts and packages in Canada. They're expensive, but it's fair trade and organic. I buy it at Loblaws when it's on sale, but you can also get it through Amazon.

I agree with @charlieangus104.bsky.social. I still remember when the Convoy took place, @justinling.ca on CBC saying that it was a recruiting exercise. Remember them flying the US flag? The long-term goal is to break up our country. Let's stick together and call this out, as Charlie says.

I disagree. Right now is exactly when we have to keep pressure on Carney re the environment. He needs to know Canadians care about climate change and work it into his calculus.
