Preston Mulligan at CBC did a bit on bridge traffic focusing on the 40% reductions in collisions. Mulligan spoke with people who say the collisions are still happening but just not where the toll plazas used to be:

She does and she mentioned the town hall in her recent edition. She also mentioned it during council's meeting yesterday.

Andy Fillmore and District 8 Coun. Virginia Hinch are hosting a town hall at the Needham Community Centre at 6pm tonight.

Fillmore has hosted a few town halls: in Lower Sackville, Lucasville, and one in Cole Harbour, which he shut down early. We will see what people have to say at tonight's event.

AI is an extension of the awful requests artists get to do their work "for exposure."

Now it's artist should work "for theft."

Hickey said he contacted councillors and didn't hear back. He said they want to change the narrative and wants to work with the community. Says the don't want to kill fish and thinks the area needs more housing.

"We'll meet with anyone. Ask us the tough questions."
suzannerent.bsky.social
Hickey said the issue with a floating dock with COVE has been resolved. He said ARCP moved the infill zone to deal with that issue.
suzannerent.bsky.social
Tom Hickey with ARCP is up speaking now. He said it's been a frustrating two years for the company. "We live, breathe, and work in this city."
suzannerent.bsky.social
Adams: "Right now listening to everyone, I'm not sure where the truth lies."
suzannerent.bsky.social
Former Spryfield councillor Steve Adams is speaking. He's the current executive director of Urban Development Institute (UDI). He was in the gallery earlier today when council was debating the minimum planning requirements.

Another speaker Matthew Lohnes is up and said he owns a water lot in Dartmouth Cove. He said there's a lot of misinformation and infilling will prevent a condo development. He doesn't want to see condos but a park. He said infilling means building up the cove to protect it from sea level rise.

Laroche is urging Halifax council to send a very strong message to the Houston government that they don't want infilling in the cove.
suzannerent.bsky.social
Laroche said the pyritic slate can be dumped at the port.
suzannerent.bsky.social
Laroche said he doesn't see any benefit of infilling the cove other than for ARCP.
Laroche said when he and his wife moved to Dartmouth they were told it was too "skeezy" and too "stabby" but it's a vibrant place.
suzannerent.bsky.social
Jean Laroche, a now retired CBC journalist, is speaking now. Said he doesn't live within "spitting distance" of the cove but uses it for biking. He said he and his wife were on the trail today.

"It's a gem. It's a beautiful place.."
suzannerent.bsky.social
Donovan: "We didn't know about pre-Confederation lots... it's shocking the provision exists at all."
suzannerent.bsky.social
Maura Donovan has lived on Hawthorne Street for 15 years. She said people assumed that the cove was protected. She said public investment in Halifax, Dartmouth, and Bedford have protected areas.

"We are incredibly fortunate to have this kilometres long harbour but access to it as well."
suzannerent.bsky.social
Next speaker is Violet Rosengarten: She is an artist and educator. She and her husband walk Dartmouth Cove often. "We see people of all ages enjoying the walkway."
