It has a _very_ slow start, you're in basically a tutorial untill the first boss, and then it stays pretty slow untill the first expedition, after that you get some very good intrigue. Sadly its a very bad first 4ish hours. Just take the time to learn the game and get some levels

I can't reccomend those enough. Explorers of sky stands out as not just a good kids game but a genuinely moving and touching story along with the best mystery dungeon gameplay there every was.

Black 2 is the best "mainline" pokemon game with a ton of post story stuff
