I have lots of respect for #JeremyCorbyn and #ZarahSultana but #YourParty is increasingly looking like a farce. You could get the impression that its main aim is to break the record for most splits in a party before it's even launched. Meanwhile, @greenparty.org.uk is storming ahead.

#BlackFriday, my arse. Like most people in Britain, I'd never even heard of it until a few years ago. We don't need any more festivals of commercialism.

Church leaders warn of the dangers of #ChristianNationalism in the UK, reports the @churchtimes.bsky.social:
www.churchtimes.co.uk/articles/202.... It's good they're starting to wake up to the danger, but we need a much bolder Christian response to the far-right threat!

"Father, forgive us, we don't know what we're doing": symonhill.org/2025/11/24/f... (My sermon yesterday at Sherbourne Community Church in #Coventry, about the death of Jesus, forgiveness, anti-Semitism and resistance to empire).
Father forgive us, we don’t know what we’re doing
Yesterday (Sunday 23rd November 2025) I led worship at Sherbourne Community Church in Coventry. It is always an honour to be asked to do so. Below is the text of my sermon. To be clear: this is bas…

Despite claims by the far-right, nobody is actually trying to stop them using #ChristmasTrees (a German idea) or traditions of #SantaClaus (based on a Turkish saint) to celebrate the birth of #Jesus (a Middle Eastern refugee). They'll do all this to show how British they are.

"‘Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.’ Then Joseph got up, took the child and his mother by night, and went to Egypt". (Matthew 2,13-14)

Right-wing nationalists are already shouting "They're banning #Christmas!" when they see an innocuous reference to "Winter Lights" or suchlike. In reality of course, nobody is trying to stop them celebrating the birth of #Jesus, a Middle Eastern refugee.

Why do Christians so often make the Gospel sound like bad news? If we're not preaching *good news*, we're not preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
My sermon at Kingshill #Baptist Church in #Buckinghamshire last month:

If we’re not preaching good news, we’re not preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ
On Sunday 11th October this year, I had the honour of preaching at Kingshill Baptist Church in Buckinghamshire (pictured). The village of Little Kingshill is a more rural location than I am used to…

The peace proclaimed by #Jesus is not a shallow avoidance of conflict but an active challenge to violence, oppression & injustice (my sermon for #RemembranceSunday last week; sorry not to post it sooner!).

Sixty-five years ago today, four first-graders desegregated New Orleans's public schools: Ruby Bridges at William Frantz Elementary School, and Leona Tate, Tessie Provost, and Gail Etienne at McDonogh 19 Elementary School. They faced violent mobs and threats to their lives. They were 6 years old. 🗃

"Man has photo taken on birthday" is the 4th most prominent news story on the #BBC website. Far from having a left-wing bias, the BBC can barely mention the Windsor family without descending into creepy subservience.

I'm inspired to hear of the sharply increased turnout at the National Alternative #RemembranceSunday Ceremony organised by the #PeacePledgeUnion. For the first time in years, I couldn't make it (as I was preaching in #Cambridge) I'm wearing my #WhitePoppy.

If you doubt the undemocratic influence of the US establishment over the UK, never forget that the #BBC's right-wing biases (such as massively disproportionate air time for #Farage over years) never led to resignations, but the boss has resigned over editing a far-right despot's speech.

It's 2 years since I left the staff of the #PeacePledgeUnion but I'm still an enthusiastic PPU member & #WhitePoppy wearer! It's great to see the media attention around #WhitePoppies this year. It's vital we #RememberThemAll by working for peace.

Perhaps anyone else accused of raping a teenager can offer not to call themself a prince or live in a palace and then say that they hope this will draw a line under the matter, and please can we all move on?

I would like to point out that I also don't get to call myself a prince or like in a palace, and I'm not a sex criminal. By what fucked-up definition of "consequences" is #AndrewWindsor being held to account, let alone "punished"?

Even by the standards of new left-wing parties, #YourParty are quite remarkable in managing to have two major splits before they've even officially launched. Thankfully, the #GreenParty, #PlaidCymru & others are providing effective left-wing opposition to #Starmer's excuse for a #LabourParty.
