My wife got hired by a tech startup working for a few tech bros. They kept promising the world to her and she kept them afloat throughout their sheer business incompetence. Then they tried screwing her out of unemployment once they laid her off. Startups are very much “buyer beware”

Shouldn’t that be where the conversation is, though? Can existing police departments be reformed into proper law enforcement and community outreach? I honestly don’t know if the existing system will allow that, but the Pollyanna in me sure hopes so

I wonder all the time how much better the perception of police would be if we brought back “walking the beat”. Getting to know local shopkeepers, being visible and helpful, smiling, etc
