Yes, 2 gives 2 entrances to the railyard which we wouldn't have unless we add a double-xover way over to the upper right off the pic. The curved turnout at the entrance to 1 is wonky in one turn, so an argument there it may be as much work to put in the turnout as fix it. That's part of the fun ig.😆

... to get to here there's a piece of curved track that needed to be cut, and with Rokuhan bedded that means you lose the sockets for the plastic part of the joiners, and it's dubious getting the metal joiner on cut track even if filed. "Do nothing" also seems like a good plan, but plan for 1 later.

It would also make the most sense, and make that curved section a true siding with an entry and exist, allow for 4 or 5 small freight cars or 2 or 3 passenger cars, and if the point is to be able to connect from either end of a car 2 would make it a long route, nearly 1/4 of the mainline. Easier?...
