OK, in SG-1 S6E3 when Jonas is an underwater section of the ship and "rings out" underwater, and there's a giant cylinder of water that gets transported with him and then splashed everywhere, that was a clever effect.

I found that for z scale flextrack air-dried foam clay is pretty good at holding the pattern of the track so that after it's dried you can pop the track off and press it back on again with the track-ends still lining up. it takes a little practice not to press any all the way through the ties though

wait... i've just been advised by the experts in the layout's imaginary track shop it's "flextrackdekinkerjig" said as one word, as in "we better pull it up and straighten it with the flextrackdekinkerjig"

How small of a print size are you willing to accept? You could get a small printer and then divide the work up if you were going to have to finish and paint it anyhow, but on the other hand you'll quickly wish for more print area.

By some miracle ALL OF THE CARS ARE PAINTED AND SEALED so now it's time to play the waiting game... On top of waiting for parts to arrive (horns and underframe weights), the cab car still needs its pilot and body mounted coupler attached. All in good time I spose

There are a lot of different ways to craft scale model water features but take it from someone who tried 3 different ways: I wish I had tried this way. When you think about it, most other products weren't designed just to look like realistic water.

I got to remember what that old Marklin sounded like. It was used when i got it and did well for a while, but eventually the motor gave out. I have another motor but still working up the skill level to be able to install it.

These are good. I like the way there's grass but there's some other plants as well, and that dried patch there. I look at a lot of different layouts and there's definitely some real art to getting ballasted areas to look right.
