A reminder to folks that "likes" don't promote a creator on BlueSky. If you see a charming piece of art, an excellent message, or a bit of whimsy that strikes your fancy, a "like" might make the creator feel good - which is fine. But if you want to put more eyes on it, you have to repost.

"Over the years" is a key point. There's not stone tablets of rules at Disney that everyone follows. Guidelines change as middle management changes.

It was Disney. It might have been a licensing thing, but Disney also avoids the appearance of cross promotion of any type on comic covers.

And maybe not even when licensed. They no longer want parody of famous covers unless they're doing it themselves like the Marvel cover parodying Avengers #4 with Mickey, Donald, Goofy, et al.

I did a completely different cover that I have since used to advertise my AMA. The lesson is "Don't do a lot of work before running it past the editor." The cover was all the the Disney Afternoon characters with Darkwing faces. Disney does not allow references to other shows unless licensed. Oops.

It was fun finally working on a science fiction show, although I had always included SF elements in my shows. However, in this series, Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle took the lead in story creation. I had plenty of input but mostly I was concerned with all the other aspects of the production.
