Today, The Labor Beacon received news that Operating Engineers Local 101 would subscribe moving forward. The union represents 5,400 workers across western Missouri and Kansas. All of those union members are now subscribed to the paper.

Big deal for our paper, with more big news on the way!

Rep. Sharice Davids is hosting her quarterly meeting with union leaders in her district. She has done this every single quarter for 4 terms now.

Lots of discussion around how unions fight back and what Dem leadership is doing to respond to the seriousness of the moment.

Feel like I am stealing from @unionelections.bsky.social with this, but the workers at Kansas City's PBS Station are working to unionize with @nabetcwa.bsky.social!

Totally packed house!

credit to @joshboehm.xyz for this map, which shows literally dozens and dozens and dozens of lots and family homes that no longer exist in the Westside, partially due to KCPL, urban renewal, I-35, and a dozen other things.

A bipartisan group of close to two dozen elected officials from Kansas and Missouri are here at the SMART Local 2 JATC to learn about the benefits of a union apprenticeship as part of an active effort by area unions to more actively receive support from local politicians.
