Let untold stories unfold in a “ghost nation” so paradoxical some say it doesn’t exist.

(Disclaimer: ghosts guaranteed for late August through mid-September travel only. Limit one spirit per tourist group. May not be combined with other offers.)
(But also like subs over dubs man. Some of the extra dialogue is straight out of Shenmue or something, and the subtitles appear to only roughly track the dubbed speech.)

The hyper-local TV news piece feels pretty authentic.

Well paced and richly textured, I watched half of this slow-burn film chronicling the quotidian challenges of new Taipei residents and will probably go back to finish the rest tonight.

(Context is that the KMT did hold elections in those provinces prior the the 1949 flight to Taiwan)

I believe a 1990s constitutional rewrite heavily watered down the mainland claims, but for a time it went as far as the legislature having representatives for all mainland provinces… the problem was no one could hold elections there, so the legislators were effectively elected for life.

It’s massive! Didn’t know it was the tallest monastery or had the same architect as Taipei 101 though!

Jensen = Jen Hsuan?! And all this time I thought he was named after British race car driver Jensen Button…

File size is too small or Bluesky compression too heavy… I can’t read these cards!

Is that estimate before or after the H200 announcement?

Yay!

You should visit!

How long are you visiting for?

How do you like being back at NTU?
December 10, 2025 at 5:19 AM
Those are fair points. Carbon footprint is far greater than simply googling something. And do think about your audience… who wants to read an overly energetic, buzzword-filled email laden with em-dashes?

Did somewhat recently have a specific question (comparative safety of mopeds in Taiwan vs. car in the U.S.) and did some quick online research.

Then used ChatGPT’s “deep research” and it pulled up sources I’d found as well as a crucial one I’d missed. Was a little impressed.

That’s gonna be an additional charge of NT$6,000 on top of the regular NT$30 per Article 83 of the Social Order Maintenance Act.

What I’m getting at is using AI to do things you’re well-resourced to do isn’t necessarily indicative of a lack of resources but a could be a desire to increase output.

Also, having AI do something in your domain is better because you can confidently review!

Even with the necessary resources you might turn to AI out of convenience. Today, needed to email a summary of some cited text (that I’d written). AI produces workable output for such prosaic tasks. Doesn’t the principle of comparative advantage suggest using AI for something such as this?
