黒人文化を文献研究や西洋の古典的な歴史学や地政学などの観点からではなく口伝伝承・記憶の伝統(Mnemonic tradition)として捉えているのが素晴らしい。新書という限られたスペースで濃厚な即興性と日本の読者にとって親しみやすい創造性に富んだ入門書であると思います。

I am reading Herbert Aptheker's Introduction to 1976 version of "The World and Africa" (where he explains how the reception of the first edition was, how Du Bois tried to republish in 1953 & 55 but couldn't & how we ended up with the current 1965 version). archive.org/details/...

I got to see the work of Alioune Diagne (@aliounediagne_officiel) at @mcndakar in Dakar. He turns old black&white images in colonial postcards into colourful paintings and the medium is none other than sugar. There is an amazing decolonial philosophy behind his art.

I am shocked how geographically close west Africa is to Europe (compared to my usual flight pattern from Europe to Tokyo). 4 hrs and 40 minutes is nothing. We can’t even reach half way at airports in the Middle East…
