It also has a lot more cars and stuff, but there's a lot that needs more repairs than I can reasonably add to my plate. Putting together a "Polar Express" from the passenger cars feels like something I can feasibly accomplish, even with ADHD.

Enthusiasts seem to have a complicated relationship with this particular brand. I'm just looking for something fun and cool to put under the tree, and it's sentimental. I know it isn't perfect, but hopefully it won't be too much of a hassle.

I feel like he probably explained the train's history at some point, looking back, but it's been like 25 years. 😅

I'm drinking, now, so I'll pick this thought up later with her. It's Yule, and there's nothing like a bit of spice over nog and spiced rum to warm the spirits. ❤️🎄 Gonna go be useless for a while. Blessed be, friends, and a happy evening to you all.

We should start a podcast. The problem, of course, is scheduling. Getting together occurs pretty randomly. Ah, well.

Unfortunately, I am really NOT a short-form writer. This is far an ideal platform for me. Nor am I am essayist. I am strongest as a fiction writer, and that will always be my primary vehicle for communication.

/My primary concern for acadamia at this time is a) lack of access to the masses & b) no one in today's world is listening to anyone else. To dismiss something because it's happening in a different forum does not invalidate it.

this was a huge project - i interviewed dozens of americans who feared the worst from the start of the trump era, i wanted to understand why it was obvious to some, but not others

i'd like to thank everyone who participated

The Americans Who Saw All This Coming—but Were Ignored and Maligned
Call them the Cassandras: the people—mostly not white and male—who smelled the fascism all over Trump from jump street. Why were they “alarmists,” and how did “anti-alarmism” become cool?

Now I think of it, AI would never have kept up. He would have trolled the hell out of it, and if you weren't actively paying attention, you would've gone home with the worst notes and no idea what to study.

God bless that crackpot. 🫡 His retirement was well-earned.

so, yeah, no textbooks. 😂 You were either paying attention or you weren't. He'd give you his slides, but they were really more of a bullet list/picture show to remind him what to talk about, full of well-timed jokes and jabs at the expense of everyone around him.

*our entire university art history department was a one-man show (and it was quite a show lol). Tbh he was really good at getting the job done for being that overworked, but it also meant that sometimes you had to look stuff up on your own if you wanted to verify his wilder claims.

And it's ... honestly not so surprising a story once you realize the UDC is involved in a dispute over the thing. They have a fairly prominent physical presence in the Downtown area, which is mentioned early on in my book-in-progress.

“All we did was move it,” said Charleston resident Dale Theiling, a member of the commission who also is board chair of the two militia groups that own Marion Square. “It didn’t fall under the purview of a review by the commission.”

Ah, that makes more sense./

Also, the reason mine isn't pink like the version usually shown is because the pink part isn't actually attached to the campaign booklet. It's a 2-page fold-out map/folio, and I've always stored it as a separate item.
