Widowed and nonbinary. I talk a lot about Star Trek, Ohio, cats, dinosaurs, and whatever I’m watching. The Columbus Dispatch once called me a “local cartoonist and customer-service rep.” (They/Them)
If only the whole world could be an alley behind campus under a cold sunset.

The He-Man movie looks like exactly the kind of "we have Guardians of the Galaxy at home" slop I expected it to be, but it's also the rare case where my reaction to a (cis) pronoun joke is "You know what? Go for it."

My new favorite Simpsons character is this adorable giant sloth statue at the Springfield Tar Pits, who I somehow never noticed the past several dozen times I watched "Bart Gets an Elephant.”

Today is a good day for soup.

It’s 1996, time to find love.

I enjoy enthusiastic sports posting on here, even if I’m not a sports person. But this is how I picture all of you.

We used to walk to COSI a few times a year from my elementary school, Franklin Park Conservatory is the site of AmeriFlora ‘92, and the Ohio Village is the living history museum where I grew up.

There’s a section with something different to do every day in February.

Some excerpts:

1996 in sandwiches.

“Come to the Conservatory and Hug a Bug!”

Learning about retro gaming.

Anyone need a sandwich? I’m heading back to 1996.

I wish “we’re updating your phone” didn’t feel so threatening.

“The cilantro pork ball soup chips are good, but not as flavorful as I’d hoped” I say, becoming even more of a weird sitcom neighbor.

We’ve reached the “I didn’t realize it was so warm out” part of winter.

Not many people know that squirrels evolved to blend in to wet sidewalks.

I wonder if the Buckeye Donuts scene was written for the campus Buckeye Donuts, but then film permits where you might accidentally catch OSU on camera or make it look dangerous either expensive and/or a pain.

It’s a diegetic location caption!

(It’s a little unclear in the photo, but the “Short North” at the top is just the actual arch.)
January 17, 2026 at 12:49 AM
Arch City, U.S.A., baby!

(And yes that is an old map of Columbus on the wall behind the TV. I don’t know why I’m like this either.)

New desktop background!

The Ohio Statehouse is a real -character- in this movie.

The opening of I am Wrath is genuinely upsetting. I’d remembered that it’s is a right wing fever dream about gangs in the Short North, but seeing the neighborhood where I grew up as a warzone is not fun to watch tonight.

But then we get this great Port Columbus shot (I think before the name change)

Salami, tomato, banana peppers, and red onion.

Since we’re doing 2016 photos.

I hadn’t thought about having the same phone background for nearly a decade now.

He's an elderly cat with arthritic joints, his jumping days behind him, and a questionable sense of balance.

And yet, when I'm on a Zoom call for work...
