Days 8 & 9 completed!
Had hoped to get 10 done as well but was feeling really sleepy for a while.
Day 8 - completed 16th Dec A varigated green leaves design on a beige background Day 9 - completed 16th Dec Little yellow flowers with orange centers, on a cream background. My tension looks a bit off in places, but hopefully some wriggling & eventual blocking will even that all out.

I got 1.5days done so not awful; but my focus still isn't quite enough to stick with it for long at a time.

And not at all a seasoned stranded colourworker... and yet somehow the few rows with 3colours seemed to gall into place comfortably. Beginners luck!
The recommendation was to duplicate stitch the faces

Day 5
This was starting to feel less than fun through this part. Just cos I'm fed up of being ill and so far behind.
So.. I'm also taking a moment to look at the piece as a whole so far and enjoy what I've acheived 😊
And.. there are some cute patterns coming up, so will keep on!
Day 5 - completed 11th Dec A cream band with a second dark green leaf motif Days 1-5 all together Pale green garland at the botton Small red diamonds on a lime green background Orangey red squirrels Large pink diamonds on a beige background And the dark green leaves at the top The reverse of the piece, showing off all the stranded yarn floats. Ive not done a lot of stranded colourwork, so I'm quietly pleased with how this side looks.

Day1 of 🧶 Advent
#needlefelting - a little underwhelming, but absolutely crucial: safety first.
#knitting - only got through r3 of 8 of todays pattern so not enough to show off yet. So, instead, gaze upon the pretty colours of jamieson spindrift and todays cute extras!
Needle felting advent box 1: finger protectors & needle holder 16 balls of jamieson spindrift 4ply yarn in mostly earthy natural tones of browns, greens and oranges. With greys and whites and a pop of pink, purple and red for good, whimsical, measure. Day 1 envelope & goodies from the knit advent A kilt pin with three winter themed enamel charms: a green glove, pink sweater, colourful stripey sock. Plus the mini ball of scheepies catona, in a pale blue, used for the provisional cast on

Yarn & ribbon: mystery stash leftovers
A small crochet mandala or doily in shades of purplte and greys, lies flat on a grey footstool. A lilac ribbon with white pompom ends is threaded through one of the last rounds. A small crochet mandala or doily, in shades or purples and greys, lies face down on a grey footstool. A set of 6 white and black marbled effect dice, with purpler numerals, are in the middle The ribbon has been pulled tight so the mandala is now a little bag, containing my dice set. Ready for the intro session, hopefully this weekend.

I have a question: #knitsky, how do you manage / prevent / maintain your floofy 🧶 knits when they like to pill and shed?

Is there a trick I'm missing or is it like cat hair: accept its all over everything and move on vs perpetually lint rolling everything!

Two freshly wound cakes of yarn with theor paper bands loosely around them One in navy (lapis heather) on the right and other in duck egg (agate green) Two sets of circular needles to higlight the huge shift between my last project and this one! The upper right half has the 15mm wooden needles I used for the chunky sweater. (You cant see, but the tip of one needle has Bijou chomp marks!) Lower left half of the image shows a relatively tiny pair of metal needles - 2.5mm x 9" circulars - with 3.5 rows of ribbed sock cuff in the navy yarn Close up of the navy ribbing to (try to) show off the pretty colours in the yarn. Its got subtle flecks of greeny blue and purple that makes it look petrol-ly

🧶 knit on hold
So this stalled cos I was pretty snotty through Oct. I did split for the armholes but struggling with the slog of the body. Hence my super chunky instant knit!
On returing, I've decided to switch direction so its mostly knit sts now.
But will be working more on other projects
Handknit sweater in progress Yarn colour fades back and forth between a navy blue and a pale blue, with some pale pink sprinkled through. There are veritcal spokes of knit stitches radiating from the neckline at the top. There are two holes, one at either side, where the sleeves will eventually be worked from. The body is approximately quarter done.

Knitting in progress, being photobombed by bijou (my tabby & ginger cat) A few rows of mostly cream knitting lies on a grey footstool, one chunky 15mm needle is on top. There is a coloured thread used as well which fades from green at the hem to red at the live stitches. Bijou is a blur stood over the knitting on the right hand side. We can see her shoulder, side and one back foot. Two left over balls of yarn and their paper bands Top half of pic - a bow shaped bundle of green and red yarn, with a metalis sparkle glinting in the light. The ball band below says: Hobbii Christmas Universe. (shade 23) Bottom half of pic - a cream yarn of varying thickness. The ball band above it says: Sirdar Highlands & Islands HomeSpun Aran. Havent weighed my left overs so estimated use approx 16 balls of the sirdar and 80% of the hobbii. Held 3strands cream plus 1 of the colour, equivalent to around 370m of a jumbo yarn..maybe..? Finished, unblocked, jumper laid on a grey footstool. Arms are crossed over the body. Worked up a Small, mods made: Shorter body - 20" instead of 27" Longer arms - 18½" instead of 15½" 8 double decreases in row 5 of the the collar for a more snug fit

Caturday weekly roundup
3 nas-puddles & 1 hairball.. so hopefully that's it passed and well have a few good weeks to come.
Bijou got her annual shots this week, nearly bunnykicked the vet but refrained and was told she was the perfect patient!
Bijou lying on my lap! This is still a rare occurance and lasted about 30min this time! Nas crouching the sofa mid yawn; looks like she's screwing her eyes up and sticking her toungue out at the camera Both cats sat on the bed, one at either end facing to the right of the pic but both have their heads turned to look at something behind and to the left ofnthe camera. The flash went off so they have spooky glowy eyes!

This 5.5yr old kitten has been with me for 2yrs now.
Which is not long at all; yet I barely recall a time without her incessant curiosity 🥰😹
Her hijinks this year: getting into all the cupboards, and bringing home various new friends.

She has lifted her head up, off the toy bird she was resting on. Bijou looks very much like a kitten in the photo but it was taken just this morning!

Got 7 claws clipped in one sitting! 3 still to go. She may be reclaiming the bed as her spot again.
Bijou has brought a 2nd rattie & 1 wormie friend in. A sensitive, restricted, diet seems to be helping keep her tummy settled
Nas, walking towards the camera along the back of a grey sofa. Was a quick snap so her face is slightly blurry, autofocus chose her legs instead. Bijou on the sofa, stepping up onto the armrest, mouth opening wide as she tells me ALL about her latest rattie friend (cropped from the pic). She looks so terribly proud of this accomplishment. Cute little Nas-prawn, tucked up in her cosy bed. Giving me the side eye for taking yet another photo of her Bijou on a grey tile floor, her glorious whiskers extending beyond the photo. She's looking uo beyond the camera, and has garden dirt in the chin from finding her latest wormie freind!

Already halfway down the yoke in a day
A large ball of yarn in shades of blues with some pink through it. The label says: James C Brett Emotions Double Knitting Below the ball is the beginnings of a sweater on a circular knitting needle. Its a short cable so its all squished up and looks more like a sleeve but I promise this is the neckline and upper chest! The yarn is knitting up with the blue shades fading from pale baby blue to a dark denim blue. The pink adds a marl or flecked effect.

Still not blocked, but ends all sewn in and worn 2 or 3 times already.
Very happy with it. Such a simple pattern with no shaping other than the raglan increases in the yoke.
Will keep it as a reference / block pattern I could mod with colourwork, cables, lace etc.
Knit sweater in blue and grey yarns, folded in half down the center and sleeve laid flat to the right. The only shaping in the pattern is the raglan increases, creating a diagonal line of stitches seen from neck to underarm. I added a single row of decreases at the cuff Close up of the cuff

Fortnight caturday catchup (cos i have been 🤧)
4 nas-puddles; that 3.5wk streak was doomed to end. Couple brushings a week too which is helping & she's being playful, hunting toys at bedtime.
Bijou is being very chatty, chompy and chasing toys around the bedroom at 5am!
Both cats on my new mostly green duvet cover. Bijou is on my lap and havign a wash, shes bent over away from the camera so shes just a blob of fur in the picture. Nas has flopped over for bedtime snuggles against my thigh... her back is touching bijous!! Bijou sat with her back legs on my lap and her front feet paddling the oile of fluffy blanket next to me. She has her head lifted up and a very content, almost smug look on her face. She was purring so loud too. Although, it only lasted long enough for me to take the photo. Bijou chomping my thumb. A front paw is guiding my hand into her mouth. Nas, sat at the edge of the bed, with a chunky brush coming down her chest. She has her chin jutting out asking for more brushings under her chin!

Got the sleeves bound off last night. It's snuggly but not bulky 🥰 better pics later maybe.
2 mods to pattern:
Icord cast on at neckline rather than applied icord
Dec row at cuffs (k1, k2t) before binding off cos I have narrow wrists

Bind off at hem feels tight, so may rework that, tbd
Me wearing a simple blue grey knitted sweater. Used the Hobbi summer lotus blouse pattern and two yarns held together: rowan kidsilk haze and west Yorkshire spinners exquisite lace (shades anthracite and mayfair, respectively)

Only 1 brief brushing this week too.

Seem to have upset Bijous tummy with some dried chicken treats. But she's fine otherwise ans loving chasing Grey Mousie II about at all hours!
Bijou, my ginger and tabby cat is lounging on my thigh. Shes resting her chin just above my knee and has a front arm draped over my leg. She was so comfy and chilled. Bijou sat upright on a grey rub. There are cobwebs just visible in her eyebrows and whiskers on the left side of her face. I like to think she was getting an early start on Halloween decorating! Nas, my spotty tabby cat, looking out from between a purple pair of curtains. We can see through the gap that it's dark out so she was likely waiting for me to settle into bed so she could get her tummy rubs Close up of Nas in a box looking longingly beyond the camera. This box is in the kitchen, and it's her safe space away from the bedroom. She's not fussed about boxes in general, but she'll hop into this one and happily ask for and accept a fussing.

Friendly reminder: count your stitches after a decrease (or increase) row.

This is 30+ rows of a sleeve cos I missed my decreases after picking up!

Whilst 2 extra sts isn't that big a deal, over the length of the sleeve, it's 2.5rows worth of yarn & I may want that for extra length!
A raggedy pile of blue grey, slightly fluffy, yarn that's just been undone due to a mistake 30something rows ago that left me with too many stitches. Im far too economical with my yarn to allow it!! Two stitches isn't much extra width, but it's using up yarn that I may need to legthen the sleeves to fit. So.. here we go again!
