If we want a society where we can care for ourselves, one another and the planet taxing the wealthiest is an essential first step.

When world-leading economists argue that the UK needs a wealth tax our Govt should listen. History tells us ambition is possible and preferable; that the UK can be world leading.
Prime Minister be ambitious for our country - tax us, the super rich www.theguardian.com/business/202...
Starmer and Reeves should prepare UK for wealth tax, say top economists
PM could raise ‘tens of billions’ while positioning Britain as progressive, say Thomas Piketty and others

This is the stuff of authoritarian regimes. There isn't even the pretense that this is anything but persecution, unbound by law.

Private schools are massively overrepresented in the UK's arts and culture while students in state schools increasingly struggle to access arts at all – and decades of cuts to affordable housing, social security, and education mean that gap will likely widen.
A series of graphs of the proportion of arts roles occupied by people who went to private school compared to the general public, based on analysis from the Guardian. 30% of artistic directions, 36% of arts CEOs, 35% of BAFTA-nominated actors, 43% of classical musicians, and 8% of pop musicians went to private schools, compared to 7% of the general public.
