It is very important for a writer to understand that what they think is important and interesting in their novel is unlikely to be viewed by the reader in the same intensity. A writer tends to be myopic about their own work. Your beta reader will tell you. Listen.

What I thought was coughing and wheezing from the forest fires turned out to be a severe respiratory infection. It is imperative to stop self-diagnosing. This could have been much worse than it was.

The summer wildfire smoke usually doesn’t impact my health. This year, I have been coughing and wheezing. Even staying indoors isn’t helping. I can’t imagine how this impacts the animals, the environment and the people closer.

I wholeheartedly believe children need to be surrounded by books. Not a Kindle or electronic reading device. No child looked at a device with the wonder & curiosity a colorful, interesting book cover attracts. Love of reading starts with exposure to books.
