An artist friend did the ceilings- I can ask her how they did them!

At least one goes into a garden - there is (or was) “the shy pianist‘s room” in a little conservatory thing through a garden off the cafe- you could go there and play- just the place to test sheet music! And there were winding staircases through the gardens if I remember right. It’s a steep site!

Ooh, just spotted your alt text. Yay Scarthin! Just needs some ramps and a lift now. Steampunk ones.
tandemkate.bsky.social
Is that… Scarthin books?
Not the most accessible shop but truly the most quirky and fabulous ceilings as well as that bookcase! My kids loved hiding behind that bookcase such a lot! Also wonderful secondhand books. And café…

Unfortunately not looking for a kids’ bike - she’s currently on a Islabike Beinn 27, which is 3rd hand from bigger brothers (we started before Frog existed!). Trying to find an adult bike to suit her - the Islabike adult range would have been perfect… The Liv Flourish looks good too though

Agreed re 2nd hand! But not for a growing kid - she’s 14 and not got taller for a couple of years. She’s the smallest of our 4- the bike she’s on now is our last, biggest Islabike- it’s 9 years old & on its third owner…

That front cargo thingy looks great!!

And the urban hospital has such a nice view, as well as being easier to get to.

Thanks, will have a look!

Good call.
Looking for fairly lightweight & secondhand an option so price can be flexible.
Rider is 5ft3in (my zero key isn’t working!!) and prefers a smaller frame- doesn’t like to stretch for arm or leg reach, not gangly build (I am!)

Bike recommendations please!
Looking for a step through unpowered bike, small adult size, reasonable gear range, rack & mudguard mounting points essential, dynamo lights nice.
Would like an Islabike but…
For Little Miss, for Xmas (shhhh!)- she has cracked 2-wheel riding! Current bike is a bit small…

Rumour has it I’m talking about my favourite infrastructure tomorrow. What am I going to choose?!? It’s all interesting!

CYCLE SPOTLIGHT: Van Raam Maxi Comfort

Our Inclusive Cycling Advisor, Katie, recently popped down to our @peddlemywheels.bsky.social partners and took the time to explain a little bit about what makes each of our cycles unique.

When not championing policy, our C&P lead, @kayinckle.bsky.social, is a talented fiction author, releasing her debut sci-fi novel today!
We think its the first to be authored by AND include a wheelchair using, handcycling protagonist!

Good deed of the day: Cutting overhanging branches obstructing a busy path.
Turns out a backful of steroids is all I need to be able to use light tools!
Told off by 1 person, thanked by 2.

We were delighted to be mentioned in this powerful Guardian article by George Monbiot about the state of British journalism. “You cannot speak truth to power if power controls your words… but perhaps the ground is shifting.” #wearealltheclarion www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Looks fabulous! Love the red tandem!

I bore people silly about exactly this! Also other things I think are interesting & important, like dropped kerb gradients. Will work to do it more loudly, in tandem with you!!

Fantastic to see what sounds like a sensible, positive proposal. Here’s hoping this becomes reality in the not-too-distant future

Anyone out in Bath today. If you spot this bike and tell me where it is I will pay you fuckin handsomely. Pop a lock on it I’ll literally give you £500.

Sorry. Hope you get it back.

I’m a bit overexcited about this: Our council have new bin lorries- and they’ve got low cabs! Wooo! Big win for road safety. Going to be much nicer walking/wheeling & cycling around these.
Thanks Derby!
