As predicted, McDavid did indeed sign short-term

However, rather than signing 2/38 or 3/57 deal (after which hed sign 8/190 deal), he instead signs 2/25! Hes gifting Oilers 13 million dollars

Only reason to do this, is like with young Crosby gifting Penguins non-max deal: bigger chance of Cup now

I'm not fully up on the NHL contract situation, much less how it may change after the next CBA, but there's a reason McDavid is talking about short term deals

Consider how the salary cap has gone up recently and expected to explode in 2027-28

One of the best viewing experiences I had was watching three Olympic hockey games in span of 6 hours

I watched four MLB playoff games in a day just like I do every October.

IMO the massively improved pace of baseball as seen on Saturday makes the entire experience significantly more pleasurable than it was 5-10 years ago.
