But also I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars in fees to find out I can't afford all of the expenses, but it seems deadlines are like now. Tips?

I should also say that we are very fortunate that many of the colleges are waiving her app fees because of athletic recruiting, but it isn't just about my kid. When I am trying to resolve an illogical process, it is about all of the kids, especially poverty affected, minoritized, underrepresented.

So, admissions folks -- I need to pay application fees before we get her financial package to know if we can afford the school? Admission fees are already prohibitive at a point. I don't see why one would pay for them for later finding out the financial package doesn't line up w/tuition, fees.

What else?

Higher ed has value.

If 2025 isn't a reason enough why everyone should go to college, I don't know what is. You know, where people learn about --- oh let's say -- >

questioning things, critical thinking, problem-solving, curiosity, ethics, integrity, character, legal and moral values, fairness, accountability...

Anecdotally, I'm starting to sense our STEM/Math problem in the urban centers stems from early elementary school, as early as 1st and 2nd grade whereas by 7th grade it's already a loss with little chance for recovery.

Why is the nih sending emails out in all caps like their emotionally unstable?

I think I need to give into my natural calling and improve the user experience in ALLLLL the things. I just don't understand how some of the stuff even makes it to market nor how's the market.

Just found out the ICE office is five blocks from my house. And, in the other direction, my house is about five blocks from the Mexican Consulate.

The NIH grants are focused on aging and AI these days. Is someone trying to live forever?

On Linked In if you worked at the Whitehouse, the corporate graphic that appears on your list of employers is his face. The Whitehouse graphic is his face. Search people that work there. Umm.

I never felt like it was going anywhere, but just interested to know what was the last straw or is it still happening and I'm just out of the loop.

Out of the many things, I just couldn't see employers in our region giving it any weight.

Another insightful post from @mikecaulfield.bsky.social! AI chatbots aren’t oracles, but some factchecking strategies can often coax useful information out of them.

This is a good post on how to get better at using AI. It's the product of pretty intensive research on what consistently works although I don't surface that research directly in it.

Bluesky and AI, so obviously comments on this are off. mikecaulfield.substack.com/p/is-the-llm...
