Hugh Brogan’s biography is 40+ years old.
Since then Christina Hardyment's 'Captain Flint’s Trunk' and Roland Chambers, Russian period 'The Last Englishman' were also published.

The Chocolate Path - the picturesque path along the New Cut - originally opened in 1906 as a railway line connecting the Bristol Harbourside Railway to Temple Meads via Ashton Bridge. It earned its nickname because the paving slabs along the path resemble bars of chocolate.

Mrs Delooze’s group went to Coniston after lunch. We skimmed stones from the shore before canoeing to the island that was the inspiration for the Swallows and Amazons book and film. After exploring the island, we canoed back across the lake.

Mrs Ralph’s group had an amazing morning. It was all very ‘Swallows and Amazons’. We canoed out to an island, had a hot chocolate and went for an explore.

On Sept 16th 1981, Postman Pat first aired. It was written by Kendal author John Cunliffe. The fictional valley of Greendale was based on nearby Long Sleddale. Here's the bridge at Long Sleddale which Postman Pat's van drove over at the start of each episode.
