This year I had the privilege of contributing concluding remarks to an important new book exploring the psychological drivers & impacts of ‘honour’ based abuse. The incredible author, Dr. Roxanne Khan, isn’t on here but you can find her on LinkedIn, X etc. onevidence.co.uk/harm/

I used to think that trauma flashbacks literally feel like you’re back in the moment where the trauma occurred, seeing & hearing everything - which is why I assumed I never had them, bc I didn’t experience this. But then I learned about emotional flashbacks. www.exploreyourmind.co.uk/blog/what-is...

Genuinely love how every time there's an uptick in new users, people who've been on here a few months start explaining how it used to be in the Old Days like someone telling their grandkids about life before electricity and having to relieve yourself in an outhouse while wrestling two dozen rats

One of the most beautiful and harrowing books I’ve read in a long time. Its structure reflects the fault lines of psychological trauma, skipping over chasms of unspeakable grief until eventually you’re swallowed whole.

This has been on my to-read list for ages. Fascinating and important.

Writing memoir often feels like I’m tuning into that 3am end of the party vibe, when you’re absolutely fucked but you found a friend and are now getting to know each other’s traumas… except now I’m stone cold sober listening to Pink Floyd with a cup of tea while I tap away on the laptop

Gotta love that feeling of starting afresh on a new platform, where at least for a little while you can speak into the void and not immediately get bogged down in the whatabout-ery
