vi is the best editor. The Oxford comma is totally superfluous and does not need to be used in 90% of cases. "Die Hard" is not a Christmas film. "Internet" is a proper noun.

Io beauty shot.

Taken by the Juno spacecraft on 3 February 2024.

The right-hand hemisphere is illuminated by the Sun.

On the left, the night side isn't totally dark because of Jupitershine.

My usual experiment to find out how bad LLMs are at technical instructions (wiring a UK plug) as applied to grok. It's just as bad as any other LLM out there:

11 years behind Randall Munroe on this cartoon.

Being the other half to a person with cancer is strange: you don't get the physical symptoms, but you still have the upheaval and stress.

Still, it shows there is a future where the worst case doesn't happen.

People who know scam tactics: I've just had an SMS conversation with someone who was adamant I'd phoned them at 16:50 when I hadn't (I don't make phone calls). They kept asking who I was.

Caller spoofing on them or somebody trying to set up a scam on me?

Went to Rome for holiday, randomly found old computer and game museum. Had most of the computers anyway. Sprogs enjoyed it.

Lazynets. The crappy film Speed 2 (1997) had this device being used through a D-Sub connector to hack the ship. We've been trying to work out whether this was a PDA from the period or just a non-functional prop. It's the wrong shape for a Newton, could be a Palm. Any ideas?

what a load of nonsense!

Public wifi is reasonably safe! Airports are even more because they have more CCTV than you can imagine and armed police.

people get pwn3d via phishing and malware/infostealers....

📱 Many people forget that public Wi-Fi networks can be a goldmine for hackers! Always assume your data is at risk when connecting in cafes or airports. Stay safe! #MobileSecurity

Over the weekend messing about with data has produced me this little overlay for Google Maps which shows the Domesday86 data for each D-Block. Abused vibe coding and spent too long learning about how the Domesday86 laser disk worked.

I tried vibe programming for the first time this weekend. If you can describe the problem it makes it very easy to rapidly prototype software. In two hours after a few twiddles and some minor gaslighting from Gemini, I had a basic working output that I can build on.
