You don’t need a sophisticated analysis or close reading to know the @nytimes.com has abandoned all pretense of journalistic integrity.

These are extrajudicial murders. The U.S. deserves whatever counterattack these people’s families come up with.
tbh1910.bsky.social
We need an actual mass movement to fight fascism. Imagine a world where C didn’t attack anti-genocide protesters. What if they hadn’t been fighting criminal prosecutions, civil lawsuits, and student conduct hearings? Many protest but their ranks are thinned. People like C made the takeover easier.
tbh1910.bsky.social
Chemerinsky involves himself. He constantly weighs in, and in this instance, he paved the way for Trump’s attacks with baseless attacks rooted in an intentional conflation of anti-Zionism and antisemitism. I agree Trump doesn’t need an excise, but C is making it easier. That’s why he’s complicit.
tbh1910.bsky.social
You don’t get to take credit for ending a war when you’ve been paying for the war the whole time and it would have always ended the minute you stopped paying.

This is like hiring a hitman to murder your neighbor, calling off the hit, and then taking credit for your neighbor being alive.
tbh1910.bsky.social
Any serious person knows Chemerinsky helped produce this moment. He conflates anti-Zionism with antisemitism. He attacks law students for protesting genocide. He joins baseless lawsuits alleging "rampant antisemitism." He teed Trump up to attack UCs for antisemitism and use his own words as proof.

Blaming Chemerinsky for Trump is super three-dimensional analysis
tbh1910.bsky.social
Chemerinsky's repeated claims of "rampant antisemitism" at the UCs, along with the capitulation of UC officials in settlements in lawsuits like Frankel v. Regents, and Biden/Bass/Newsom's constant condemnation of "antisemitic" pro-Palestine protesters gave Trump everything he needed.
tbh1910.bsky.social
The audacity.

Chemerinsky, Jewish Faculty Resistance Group, the Regents, and their lawyers caused this.

Exaggerating and lying about claims of antisemitism, ignoring real ant-Palestinian racism, and punishing people for protesting genocide is why we’re here.

Chemerinsky is complicit.
philipncohen.com
Chemerinsky: The Trump extortion demands are unconstitutional as well as odious (gift link). Me: Any school that signs must be shunned, faculty affected must walk. No room for this.

Good example of how it’s easier to be them. Disingenuous headlines write themselves:

Mike Johnson thinks pedophilia is a distraction.

Republicans don’t have time to investigate child sexual abuse

MAGA speaker claims protocol is more important than protecting our children from rape.
atrupar.com
NN: Dems say you won't swear in Grijalva bc you don't want her vote on Epstein

JOHNSON: No. It's scheduling

NN: But there have been Rs sworn in during pro forma sessions

MJ: Only reason was bc they flew in their family

NN: So if she flies in her family you'd do it?

MJ: Again, it's a distraction

A veritable who's who of submorons, grifters, and fascists will spread lies and disinformation about antifa and antifascism today at the White House:

Nick Sortor, Cam Higby, Jonathan Choe, Andy Ngo, Katie Daviscourt, James Klug, Savanah Hernandez, Nick Shirley, Brandi Kruse and Julio Rojas."

Trump's "Merit Hiring Plan" in action:

Hesgeth, Sec. of Def: Shares war plans with his wife on Signal.

Bondi, AG: Can't find the Epstein list on her own desk.

Lindsey Halligan: 0 prosecutorial experience; can't find courtroom.

It's not a cabinet, it's a clown car with a security clearance.
tbh1910.bsky.social
There is no center, center right, or center left.

If your liberal friends are still wringing their hands about fascism, but devoting more time to planning brunch than to meaningful resistance, they’re complicit.

We’re way past the point where voting and keeping up with the news is enough.
tbh1910.bsky.social
When the history of 2020s US fascism is written, irresponsible New York Times headlines like this will be used to show the complicity of major media.

Trump is overtly saying he will fabricate an insurrection to justify the use of the military to take over US cities and the NYT sanewashes him.
tbh1910.bsky.social
Stop relying on @npr.org for your news. In just one example of how bad and misleading their coverage is, consider the intro for "Today, Explained" about the government shutdown:

"The Democrats shut down the government to shine a light on healthcare. But the president cares about health care, too."
tbh1910.bsky.social
Eric Hamilton and Jean Lin should be pariahs among lawyers. Their law schools should disclaim any association with them. DC should disbar them.

Every time one of these dirtbag Trump administration lawyers shows their face, they should be publicly humiliated.

The MAGA fascist government wants its armed supporters to attack and kill “the left”. What follows will be what typically happens when cops are charged with violence. The entire governmental apparatus will unite to protect them and authorize more violence.

Supreme Court: "No, I don't need to recuse myself just because I was on defendant's yacht last week traveling to his private island where we smoked cubans and ate steaks all weekend and I left with a Van Gogh for my troubles. I'm sure it's fine. There's no conflict."

Oregon judge:

A judge has recused from hearing the Portland troops case because his wife is a Democratic Congresswoman -- even though it is not "required under either federal law or the [judicial] Code of Conduct." The new judge was appointed by Trump.

We have a legal system with two different sets of rules.
tbh1910.bsky.social
Why don't Democrats tell voters that they are going to keep the government shut down until the Trump and MAGA restore healthcare, withdraw troops from American cities, and prioritize regular people over billionaires?
tbh1910.bsky.social
Any strategy to resist Trump's authoritarianism must also include plan to help vulnerable people leave this country, or protect them while they're here.

If not, a bunch of political dissidents you know are going to be arrested and/or killed.

Nobody regretted leaving Germany in 1932.
tbh1910.bsky.social
Political dissidents were forced to wear the red triangle badge in the camps.

Today, unhinged lawyers argue the same symbol is a "true threat" of violence in the anti-genocide/pro-Palestine protest context.

A federal court in LA recently agreed, but movement lawyers are fighting the decision.

Now that @pbsnews.org and @npr.org are no longer beholden to federal funding, it's even more clear how routinely they fail to accurately portray what is going on in the US right now.

We should only support if they start taking seriously their journalistic obligations under fascism.

if you still think we "might" be entering fascism, keep in mind Trump's been murdering people in the Carribean bc he says they are "designated terrorist organizations" (DTO), a made up thing.

Now, he has designated "antifa" as terrorists, meaning anyone he calls antifa can be murdered.
tbh1910.bsky.social
It's incredible that Democrats can't figure out how to fight back. Trump is an open fascist, and there are several overt antisemites in the administration

But is anyone more obvious an enemy than Russel Vought? He literally wrote all his plans down to destroy society and is now implementing them.

Has a single democrat talked publicly about the Executive Order that attempts to convert non-profits and governmental critics into terrorists?

The fascists openly taunt them about how little resistance there is, and they still can't muster the courage to speak.
tbh1910.bsky.social
Democratic leadership’s abject failure to ever, for a single moment, act as an opposition party isn’t lost on Trump.

He expected a fight. They laid down.

156 people are watching Hakeem Jeffries livestream.

These things are related, but they won’t learn.

Focus on what you can do locally.

it's not just that they are fascists or that Biden knowingly handed the keys to the military and the fed to them.

It's that they are always on message. Trump will blame dems and praise himself in a dependent clause responding to a question about the weather at the drop of a hat.
