Lovely day in London. Catching up with old friends, interspersed with working from coffee shops. Really enjoying the flexibility of being self-employed 😊

Morning "commute" to the office. Turns out Finnish lakes have better WiFi than that ferry did. Though I suspect the novelty of working from the dock will wear off about the same time the mosquitoes find me. 🦟 Still, not complaining. 🇫🇮

Overnight ferry from Helsinki to Stockholm. Not a bad office for working on the new business - though the WiFi's about as reliable as you'd expect on a boat. Still can't quite believe I get to do this whole nomadic thing on the way back to the UK. Could get used to this. 🛥️

This story leaves me feeling both sad and heart-warmed.

THIS: “She decided to do this in her own terms. She has no criminal record. A hardworking taxpayer who’s been working 12-hour shifts since she was 15, six days out of the week. She never asked for a handout. She didn’t get food stamps…”

Somehow the "We need to support policies that are popular" crowd never land on the very popular polices like "taxing big corporation more," "making health care more affordable," or "paying teachers more."

It's always just "be 10% more racist."

The contrast with the US right now is super ugly.
everyone on Octopus Agile in the UK gets paid to use electricity from 11:30PM tonight until 4PM tomorrow. Gotta love it when it’s windy 💨

Overnight the House voted for a version of this bill that's even worse for solar than we anticipated. Now the battle moves to the Senate.
In the latest episode of Plugged In, we take a deep dive into a new proposed House bill that would, among other things, kill the solar tax credit by the end of this year. But it’s not too late to stop the bill from passing.

Sound the alarm 🚨 This is a bad bill that will hurt jobs and reduce choice for consumers, as well as the obvious climate effects.

🚨The House Committee just voted that the 30% #solar tax credit for homeowners is at risk of being rolled back by the end of the year. [1/3]

I live at the end of a street that's currently closed for utility works. The closure is just past my driveway, but is clearly marked with two bright orange signs from the entrance at the other end.

The number of people who drive down and then look confused is destroying any hope I had in humanity.

PSA: When making this sort of (entirely valid) critique, please say the thing out loud. Counter the erasure. Make your anger informative.

Jackie Robinson was (I learnt from Wikipedia) "the first African-American to play in Major League Baseball (MLB) in the modern era". In 1947.
The "Jackie Robinson Day background" section of MLB's official press release about Jackie Robinson just notes that he was a first baseman for the Brooklyn Dodgers who debuted in 1947. Nothing about the how, the why.

The IRA disproportionately benefits red states, and the reps know it, but it's also a universally good policy.
Amid Trump's proposed #tax cuts, the #IRA is on the line—but some GOP lawmakers want to preserve it. We heard directly from Representative Juan Ciscomani, Representative Gabe Evans, and Representative Dave Joyce about their thoughts on the cuts—check it out: energysage.biz/3DBIdfx
IRA Tax Credits: More Republican Support Emerges
